BONEKA JERAMI are Balinese harvest offerings dedicated to Dewi Sri, the Indonesian rice Goddess. These dolls were placed in rice fields during a harvest to encourage a successful season. Once the rice was cut, the dolls were preserved in the granaries as protective agents. These dolls are elaborately hand-woven out of palm leaves or ratan. Normally they are larger than this set (around 80cm high) but this set is really nice for decoration as they reach a height of 55cm on the custom made iron stand. I have in 20 years trading never seen a set like this… Beautiful rare item, true collector’s item! Although this piece shows signs of use it has fantastic rich decoration. The patina, which indicates its considerable age, combined with its elegant design, makes it an ethnographic object of great interest. Dimensions: Height of dolls: 50 cm Width of dolls: aprox 22 cm (each) With of presentation stand: 40 cm Height of presentation: 55 cm • The items will be carefully packaged and shipped within 1 working day with PostNL (including track & trace information) • Tracking will be updated on your Catawiki account once your package has been delivered.
