Stunning Hei Tiki made of opaque Kawakawa Pounamu (Nephrite jade) from the West Coast of the South Island (Te Wahi Pounamu) of New Zealand. It has colourful paua eyes and comes on a plaited cord (28cm length) with loop and Pounamu toggle. This Hei Tiki is 53mm long, 29mm wide and 8mm thick. You rarely see them this detailed in this size... Hei Tiki are ancestor figures in Maori culture from New Zealand / Aotearoa. It can also be a reference to Tiki, the first human created by the Atua (god) Tane Mahuta, or represent the goddess of childbirth, Hineteiwaiwa. Please note the pictures were taken in bright sunlight. The pounamu will look a bit darker in normal daylight.***Any import duties and taxes are the responsibility of the buyer.
