The vibrant yellow of the saihai (commander's baton), the rich orange of the tassel, and the deep red of the silk ribbons have lost none of their original brilliance. The turquoise armor plates, the complex geometric patterns of the shin guards, and the fine details of the weapon ornamentation are preserved with striking sharpness—a specimen of remarkable freshness. The paper is very well perserved with no flows to mention. A museum-quality impression!________________________________________________ABOUT THE PRINT:Hayashi Hanshirō Naritoshi was a retainer of the Akechi clan who fought at the Battle of Yamazaki (1582)—that decisive confrontation between Akechi Mitsuhide and Toyotomi Hideyoshi, which took place just eleven days after the Honnō-ji Incident.Yoshiiku depicts here the pure, unfiltered madness of close combat. Two samurai have become locked together, their bodies entangled in a chaotic knot of armor, limbs, and weapons.
