A Republic period Yixing zisha teapot with five teacups.The teapot is simple but elegantly shaped and finely decorated with an archaic script inscription and signed by the maker. Both the base and the interior bear the impressed factory mark 陈鼎和造 (Chen Dinghe Zao).The five teacups are decorated with a continuous engraved script and are glazed white on the inside; some cups carry the Chen Dinghe mark, while others are stamped with a swastika symbol.The set is attributed to Chen Dinghe Zisha Pottery Shop (陈鼎和紫), founded in 1916 by Chen Yuanming with branches in both Yixing and Shanghai. In its early period, Chen Dinghe used a large square seal in positive relief regular script (陈鼎和造) on the bottom of its wares. In later periods, combinations of that seal, seal-script marks, signatures of individual makers, and in some export pieces even English inscriptions were used.
