Important Yixing Zisha Tea Caddy by Wu Hanwen (吴汉文), Dated 1927China, Republic periodA finely crafted Yixing zisha tea caddy of elegant drum form (鼓型茶仓, Gu-xing cha-cang), executed in unglazed yellow Duanni clay, covered in the middle and on the rivits with a reddish Hongni slip with a functional white-glazed interior designed to preserve and stabilise delicate tea leaves.The vessel was produced by the renowned Wu Desheng Purple Clay Pottery House (吴德盛紫砂陶器行), founded in 1916 by Wu Hanwen (吴汉文), one of the key figures in early 20th-century Yixing production. The underside bears the official trademark seal:金鼎商標 (Jin ding shangbiao)“Golden Tripod Trademark”The body is extensively decorated in the literati tradition using fine zisha tiaoke (clay-carving) technique, where inscriptions were carved directly into the leather-hard surface prior to firing.One side bears a poetic inscription in flowing script:雅趣以刻 (Yǎ qù yǐ kè)“Engraved with elegant taste.”together with the cyclical date:丁卯小春月corresponding to 1927, within the “early winter month” of the Dingmao year cycle.The inscription is signed:聽香館主 (Tingxiang Guanzhu)“Master of the House of Listening Fragrance” the literary pseudonym of Wu Hanwen, confirming his direct authorship of the calligraphy and carving.A second side is decorated in formal clerical script (Lishu 隶书) with an auspicious poetic couplet, read from... lees verder bij Catawiki
