This large, handcrafted vase was made in Germany in the 1960s by the iconic ceramics manufacturer Ceramano. Featuring the striking Stromboli décor, the piece is hand-signed on the base and remains in very good vintage condition. The vase is a beautiful example of the “Fat Lava” style—an expressive movement in West German ceramics that rose to fame during the 1960s and 70s. Characterised by bold, textured glazes and lava-like surfaces in vibrant colors, these pieces were known not only for their visual impact but also for their sculptural and modernist appeal. This particular vase was designed by Hans Welling, a celebrated German designer whose work helped define the era. Known for his organic approach to form and his eye for proportion and material, Welling brought a fresh, artistic sensibility to everyday objects. In addition to his ceramic creations, he also designed furniture and interiors—always with a refined balance between function and form.Today, pieces like this one are prized by collectors and design professionals alike—not just for their craftsmanship, but for the story they tell about a bold and creative period in post-war European design.
