The surface shows a mottled green patina with areas of earthen encrustation.Duck’s foot amulets are a characteristic type of personal ornament of the Viking Age. Their precise meaning is still debated, but they are thought to have served as protective talismans, connected with fertility, seafaring luck, and the apotropaic power of birds. The dynamic movement of the pendants when worn enhanced their symbolic and magical function.
