Rare Chinese Celadon Kendi with Crackle Glaze and Fish Decoration –– 22.5 cm A rare and highly decorative Chinese celadon-glazed kendi, featuring a sculptural spout and finely moulded relief decoration of swimming fish in an underwater scene. The vessel is covered in a rich green celadon glaze with an attractive natural crackle pattern, enhancing its depth and character. The elegant gourd-shaped body and applied spout form are characteristic of traditional kendi used in Southeast Asia and China. The relief decoration shows stylised fish swimming among waves and aquatic plants, symbolising abundance and prosperity in Chinese culture. The glaze shows beautiful variations in tone, pooling in the recesses of the relief decoration. The overall modelling is refined and well-balanced, making this piece both a strong collector’s item and a highly decorative display object.
