US Army bulletproof bible – named to Bronze Star Winner, 284th Combat engineer, Luxembourg Dalheim – Militaire uitrusting – 1943

Exceedingly difficult to find - an original Heart Shield Bible, from 1943 when these shields were sold. This bible is in good and nice condition except for some wear; see photo's as they are part of the description. the cover has a beautiful patina. The bible is nicely named to William J Minger. He served with the famous 284th Engineer Combat Bataillon, and saw action in the Bulge / Luxembourg (Dalheim / Mondorf), but also near Remagen. according to the archives. He earned a BRONZE STAR MEDAL in december 1944, potentially relating to events in the battle of Bulge. A lot can be found on him, see attached digital photo's. Im am sure much more can be found. The metal plates were to prevent a bullet from reaching the soldier’s heart (which they did on several occasions. surface of the bible has a great patina and has the text: ''May this keep you safe from harm''.
