Very nice US WW2 ARMY AIRFORCE (USAAF) Issue Variable Density goggles, made by American Optical. The order no. dates this set to 1944 and usaaf issue (see also the date 1944 embosed n the goggles). A nice pair of boxed American Optical Company, Variable Density Goggles. The rubber frames remain pliable. These were worn by airgunners / waistgunners on bomber aircraft for better target sighting. See example photo of such goggles in wear by aircrew. It is completely as found condition, not cleaned, perfect for display. Even the spare lense is there!
