Unique US Army Heartshield bulletproof bible – named to sailor on ARL-10 Coronis ship – Militaire uitrusting – 1943

Exceedingly difficult to find - an original Heart Shield Bible, from 1943 when these shields were sold. This unique example is named to Chester A Anderson, born in 1923 and enlisted in early 1942/1943. He would be assigned to the Coronis ARL-10 ship, a vessel meant to repair tank landing crafts used for amphibious landings. He is specifially mentioned in the unit's roster in 1944/1945 (see photo's). Some preliminary research is attached digitally; I dont know exactly his actions i because I have not time to do more research. His bible has his name and service number. his bible is in good and nice condition except for some wear; see photo's as they are part of the description. the cover has a beautiful patina. The metal plates were to prevent a bullet from reaching the soldier’s heart (which they did on several occasions. surface of the bible has a great patina and has the text: ''May this keep you safe from harm''.A very nice 100% original item for your US WW2 collection with an impressive link to the pacific theater of operations!
