Unique US Army Heartshield bulletproof bible – named to Army Medical Captain – beautiful patina – Militaire uitrusting – 1943

Exceedingly difficult to find - an original Heart Shield Bible, from 1943 when these shields were sold. This unique example is named to John E helm Sr, born in 1913 and enlisted as a medical doctor; he would later achieve the rank of major. Some preliminary research is attached digitally; I dont know where he exactly served during WW2 because I have not time to do more research. His bible has his name and the names of his relatives or friends. This bible is in good and nice condition except for some wear; see photo's as they are part of the description. the cover has a beautiful patina. The metal plates were to prevent a bullet from reaching the soldier’s heart (which they did on several occasions. surface of the bible has a great patina and has the text: ''For God and our country'', which is a difficult to find version.
