Rare and large approx 1940 dated Michelin Road map of the Ardennes and Belgium / Luxemburg, and was subsequently ''taken as a souvenir'' and used by a member oft he 11th armored division, 41st tank bataillon, A. Bojarski. His name and service number are neatly written on the map corner. This is a very unique map with an interesting history, more research should be done on him as i dont have the time. Great item for your WW2 collection, and clearly used in the field! See also our other interesting items on catawiki! History of the 11th armored division The division was activated on 15 August 1942. It arrived in England 11 October 1944 and prepared for combat with two months' training in the Salisbury Plain Training Area. The division landed in Normandy on 16 December 1944, assigned to contain the enemy in the Lorient Pocket, but the onset of the Battle of the Bulge[2] resulted in a forced march to the Meuse and the defense of a 30-mile sector from Givet to Sedan, 23 December.
