The Trio 9R-59D is a classic Japanese vintage communications receiver, designed for shortwave listening and amateur radio monitoring. Produced by Trio (later Kenwood) in the late 1960s and early 1970s, the 9R-59D combines traditional tube technology with a practical communications-receiver design. (Televideo⁠)The receiver covers an impressive 550 kHz to 30 MHz across four bands, allowing reception of AM and SSB/CW signals throughout the medium-wave and shortwave ranges. It features a single-conversion superheterodyne circuit, a 455 kHz IF, RF gain control, BFO, S-meter, AVC and ANL circuitry. A calibrated bandspread dial provides dedicated scales for the 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10 metre amateur bands.To deliver this product properly, it is carefully packed in very strong boxes, thereby wrapped in bubble wrap with lots of padding.
