Texeira, Mark – 1 Original page – Vampirella – v2 #16 page 10 – 1999

Vampirella v2 was published by Harris Comics. The page was published in Vampirella issue 16 of the second volume, although funny enough the indication on the page states 'Pantha Issue 1, Story Page 6'.I guess the Pantha story was sort of like a backup feature to the Vampirella story, from issues 13 to 17. In issue 16 it is the first story presented in the comic.Mark Texeira does a wonderful job painting the issue. I think he was also the artist of the first fully painted comic, Megalith issue 3 by Continuity Comics. In any case, if my memory is correct, it was stated as that on that cover. Now I am no expert on how to create such a piece of art, but I found the following on his artistic approach:"When painting, Texeira begins with a penciled layout on loose paper, and following approval of the layout, will acquire reference photos or hire models to pose for him, in order to "capture the feeling of the sketch as closely as possible." Texeira will then apply a few layers of gesso to a Masonite board, and then carefully lay the drawing out in tight pencil, noting subtleties of skin tone... lees verder bij Catawiki
