A rare and highly interesting illuminated globe by the Eerste Nederlandsche Globe Industrie, Zwolle (The Netherlands), dating from around 1980. With a diameter of 33 cm and a total height of 44 cm, this globe represents a fascinating chapter in Dutch globe-making history.After World War II, the Eerste Nederlandsche Globe Industrie began producing globes in 1949, initially using printed gores by Kümmerly & Frey (Bern). In later years, production shifted and, after 1969, the company increasingly imported globes from abroad under Dutch branding. This example, produced after 1975, is characteristic of that later period.This globe is illuminated and offers a particularly attractive dual display:• Light off: physical features such as relief, mountains and oceans are shown• Light on: political boundaries and countries appear clearlyWhat makes this globe truly special and rare is the integrated day/night indication according to the month of the year when illuminated, a sophisticated and uncommon feature that enhances both educational and display value.Mounted on its original plastic base with wood-colour finish, the globe is offered in new old stock condition.
