Bovenste rij is voor de restauratie nieuw vervaardigd. Andere tegeltjes zijn in door erkend restaurateur zeer kundig gerestaureerd. Onderstaande komt uit het restauratieverslag. Waarde destijds toegekend van 7000 pond. Dit specifieke tableau is toegeschreven naar van Traa Verwijk, andere voorstellingen zijn in verband gebracht met Hendrik Willem Suijver, Amsterdam. The research was most interesting and involved consulting the Wellington-, the National Army- and the Guards Museums. Having had no success here, I extended my research to the Netherlands, and eventually with the help of various museums, antique tile experts and an auction house, arrived at a date of circa 1816. The probable name of the painter: Aalmis, and of the ceramic factory: De Blompot (the flower pot) in Rotterdam. It is believed to have been made after an engraving by F.AS. Langendijk. The tableau depicts the crowded battlefield at Waterloo with the Duke of Wellington seated on horseback amidst six further high-ranking officers, and showing two running Scottish regimental guards presenting him with the Napoleonic banners surmounted by the Imperial Eagle.
