An English mahogany and brass-mounted bracket clock with alarm.Rigby Charing Cross, circa 1800-1820.Mahogany case with pad top and brass handle, brass soundfrets.Dial with signature Rigby Charing Cross London.Brass movement with anchor escapement, single fusee and pull alarm mechanism on bell.Signed on back plate, Rigby London, pendulum with hold-fast.Height 43 cm.Comes with pendulum, 2 door keys and 1 winding key.James Rigby is a very well regarded maker, recorded working initially in Clerkenwell from 1795, and then at 8 Charing Cross Road from 1806 to 1830. He succeeded the famous John Leroux at this address in 1808, and was himself succeeded by Richard Morse in 1835.The clock is in full working order and in great condition for age; please read through the full description and view the many photo's for a more in depth condition report.
