An elegant French ormolu mantel clock by the renowned Parisian maker Raingo Frères, one of the most respected names in nineteenth-century French clockmaking.The case is executed in finely chased and mercury-gilded bronze, displaying a graceful Rococo-inspired design with flowing scrolls, floral ornamentation and beautifully modelled naturalistic details. Beneath the dial is a charming genre scene depicting two boys playfully struggling over a bird's nest, creating a lively and decorative composition.The circular gilt-bronze dial is fitted with twelve individual enamel cartouches with blue Roman numerals and retains its original blued-steel hands. The finely pierced openwork behind the figures reveals the pendulum in motion, adding depth and elegance to the design.The exceptional quality of the chasing and the remarkably well-preserved original mercury gilding are particularly noteworthy.
