A historically very interesting, albeit awkward globe: a German 14 inch 'Adler Globus' from 1939The globe is dated 1939, but it has the Interessengebiet (zone of interest) around Auschwitz-Birkenau on it. This is impossible because the Interessengebiet was established in 1941! What they did is they designed a new square map part for central continental Europe and accurately applied it to the 1939 globe. This way the 1939 globe was accurate in 1941. When you look closely you can even pinpoint the date more accurate than just 1941. The globe has had to be sold in the first half of 1941 because it has the Interessengebiet on it together with the Ribbentrop-Molotov pact part of eastern Poland (the striped area), which ceased to exist on the 22nd of June 1941, when Germany attacked Russia. Globes with a add-on patch by the publisher are very rare. The globe is in excellent condition and has only two spots where the map is damaged, both in the middle of the pacific. They can be easily restored.Take a careful look at the photos because they for an integral part with the descriptive tekst.
