His career began after answering a small magazine ad. and he became assistant to Yumiko Suzuki and Yukio Okada.There he developed the careful, precise style of storytelling that defines his career.Satō first gained attention in 1995 with Personal World, followed by Boxed Girl in 1997, which won a Manga Open award.His breakthrough came in 1999 with this Satorare (translated into French as Transparent), an original and moving story about people whose thoughts unintentionally escape their minds and become audible to those around them. The manga was a success, leading to a live-action film in 2001 and a TV drama in 2002.Satō’s artwork is praised for its realism and emotional clarity. He captures the feelings of his characters through small gestures, moments of silence, and a restrained style. His stories feel quiet and intimate, yet behind this simplicity lies a vision of manga that is profoundly human.
