Odyssey is a sculptural lighting object conceived by designer Rollo Bryant as part of the Liquid Roots research project. Exploring more environmentally considerate approaches to illumination within urban and natural landscapes, Liquid Roots investigates how lighting can coexist more harmoniously with flora and fauna. Odyssey translates this philosophy into the interior environment, inviting reflection on the relationship between light, nature and habitat.As the inaugural sculptural luminaire developed within the project, Odyssey embodies both technical innovation and artistic expression. The piece is produced through advanced 3D printing using mineral sand bonded with a bio-based resin, resulting in a tactile, stone-like surface of exceptional character. At its core, an integrated light source radiates through a network of organically formed cavities, creating a subtle interplay of shadow, depth and illumination.Even when unlit, Odyssey functions as a striking sculptural statement—an object of intrigue that reveals new perspectives, textures and spatial qualities from every angle.
