Qajar Vase with Ibex Decoration – Iran, ca. 1880–1900 A beautiful vase from the late Qajar period (ca. 1880–1900), richly decorated with stylised ibexes (wild goats) amidst elegant scrolling floral and foliate motifs. The vase is executed in a striking palette of turquoise-blue and black, characteristic of Qajar ceramic production of the late 19th century. The ibex, one of the oldest and most enduring symbols in Qajar art, has appeared in decorative arts for centuries and is traditionally associated with strength, prosperity and the natural world. Its elegant baluster form, glossy glaze and refined handpainted decoration make this an attractive example of Qajar ceramic craftsmanship.
