FRENCH Ombredanne Ether Inhaler of circa. 1925. Proffessor Louis Ombrédanne (March 5, 1871 – November 4, 1956) .Designed by the French surgeon Louis Ombredanne (1871-1956), who practised for 24 years at the Hôpital des Enfants malades in Paris. In 1907, Charles Nélaton, whose assistant he was, moved by two chloroform anaesthesia accidents, asked him to work on an anaesthetic inhaler offering greater safety. He first manufactured it himself and then had it marketed by the Collin company. In 1908, Collin filed a patent for this device intended for general anaesthesia with ether, presented by Louis d'Ombrédanne to the surgical society on 11 March 1908.This item is clearly a highly valuable antique and important piece of the history of anesthesiology. # The ether inhaler is in virtually new condition and works without (hidden) defects. Marked with the word CHROMEDue to customs requirements and hygiene, the bladder has been replaced by a transparent, flesh-colored balloon.# Furthermore, two antique and authentic Aether bottles are included.
