Not many musicians are more rock ’n roll than The Windmill himself: Pete Townshend. On offer here is a handsigned and numbered invitation from 1993. More than thirty years ago Townshend released an ambitious solo-project Psychoderelict. An opera, accompanied by a movie plus multiple versions on vinyl and cd. It is an intricate story about a fading rockstar who wants to revitalise his career (thinking of anybode at that time?) Multiple characters appear: main ones are a woman DJ and the manager. The story is a satirical look at Townshends own career at that moment. It was very close to his heart, so he invited a few VIPs to a presentation Friday July 2nd 1993 at the London Mayfair Theatre where he played some tracks, showed clips, and spoke to journalists. Amongst them was me. To be honest, I was not a big fan of Psychoderelict. The story was too complicated for me and I felt that not many fans would be able to identify with a true rock star.
