The phoenix, in Chinese mythology, was a mythological bird that reigned over all other birds. The Male’s were called Feng and the Females were called Huang. However, in modern times that line has been blurred to create one feminine entity. The reason for this was so that the phoenix could be paired with the dragon, which has male connotations.
