BODYWORK & PAINT This Mercedes-Benz 280 SL, better known as the legendary “Pagoda,” was originally delivered in 1971 in Carmel, California. The car was imported to the Netherlands in 1999 by an enthusiast, where it has since been carefully maintained and preserved. The body is finished in its original colour, Grau Blau Metallic (code 906) — an elegant shade that contrasts beautifully with the beige leather interior. The paintwork presents a deep shine, with only a few light imperfections on the bonnet and boot lid consistent with the car’s age, adding a wonderful sense of patina and character. There is no rust or denting; overall, the car presents as very well cared for. The body panels are straight and properly aligned, with tight and even gaps throughout. All chrome elements — including bumpers, trim and mirrors — are complete, bright, and free from pitting or corrosion. The soft top fits neatly, and the optional hardtop, with its distinctive “Pagoda” roofline, is likewise in excellent condition. TECHNICAL CONDITION Mechanically, this 280 SL is in outstanding condition.
