A "Klapmuts" bowl dating from the late Ming dynasty, but instead of the typical Kraak-ware from Jingdezhen this bowl is made around Zhangzhou, Pinghe County in Fujian. Swatow-ware are normally charmingly crudely done, but this bowl is rather high quality and thinly potted for Swatow-ware. Also the underglaze blue is very vivid on this bowl and contrast nicely with the white glaze. A nice and unusual piece for the Kraak, Swatow and Ming collector!REFERENCE: See a similar klapmuts bowl in: "Zhangzhou (Swatow) Ceramics: Sixteenth to Seventeenth Centuries Found in Indonesia" by Sumarah Adhyatman | Page 101 | Object 110Dimensions: W22,5 x H6,3 cmCondition:In good condition, with only 3 minor chips on the rim and minor wear consistant with age.
