Crafted in the distinctive style of the Kwele (Bakwele) people from the border region of Gabon and the Republic of Congo. Known as a Janus figure, this two-faced sculpture embodies a forest spirit (Ekuk) symbolically watching over all directions.Features: Each side features an elegantly recessed almond/heart-shaped face with slender slit eyes and a stylized triangular nose. The sides of the helmet display subtle, geometrically incised cross patterns.Patina: The mask displays a fine, matte weathered patina with natural signs of wear and age.
