Herman Brood (1946–2001) was a Dutch musician, painter, and poet, known for his wild lifestyle and rebellious rock 'n' roll attitude. He gained fame in the 1970s with his band Herman Brood & His Wild Romance, producing hits like Saturday Night. His music blended rock, blues, and punk, making him a Dutch rock icon.Aside from music, Brood was a prolific painter, known for his bold, graffiti-like style with bright colors and expressive figures. His art became highly popular in the Netherlands.Struggling with lifelong substance abuse, Brood tragically took his own life in 2001 by jumping from the Amsterdam Hilton Hotel. He remains a legendary figure in Dutch pop culture.
