Terlenka Pejilon advertising elephant 1957This unique object is an original Terlenka Pejilon advertising elephant from 1957.The object was designed by the Swiss graphic designer Herbert Leupin (1916-1999). Herbert Leupin was an influential graphic artist known for his minimalist and humorous advertising posters.The elephant is made of polyester and painted in the characteristic “Harlequin” style with colored diamonds. This polyester figure was used in the 1950s as display material to advertise Terlenka, a brand name for synthetic fibers from the Dutch company ENKA (later part of AkzoNobel).Dimensions: The elephant is approx. 48 cm long, 35 cm high, and 18 cm wide.Condition: The elephant has rather age-related wear (see pictures), but it is a rare and special collector's item, which can be found in museum collections (for example, Erfgoed Centrum Rozet in Arnhem), underscoring its historical value for the Dutch industry.The elephant is only shipped within the European Union.
