Edition 7/25 In the 1970s Gijsbert Hanekroot worked as a free-lance photographer based in Amsterdam where he had a studio (Berenstraat 18). His main assigment was bi-weekly music paper Muziekkrant Oor (Ear), but he also worked for daily newspapers and magazines. He did concerts, interviews, press receptions and studio shoots. It were the golden years of rock music where the big names made their first and second albums, hard working to break through. Hanekroot: 'October 1976, Amsterdam. Patti Smith 'did' Europe, for gigs and promotion of her new album Radio Ethiopia. The record company asked me for a photo shoot. An hour was scheduled, during which former photo model Patti and I worked hard. I didn't have much contact with her, but it was far better than I could have expected.'
