Francien Krieg – “Regrets”

Precious Bodies is a series that grew out of my deep fascination with the human body, particularly in its aging form. Over the years, I’ve come to see beauty not in perfection, but in what time leaves behind—lines, folds, textures, and all the subtle traces of a life lived.In these paintings, I try to approach the body with softness and respect. I don't aim to glorify or dramatize, but simply to show what is there—honestly, quietly, and up close. Each body tells a story, and I feel honored when someone allows me to paint them in their most vulnerable state.The title Precious Bodies reflects how I feel about this process. These bodies—so often overlooked, judged, or hidden—deserve our attention and care. They carry strength, fragility, memories, and dignity.This series is my way of offering a different view on beauty, one that includes aging, imperfection, and the mystery of being human. It’s also a personal journey: through painting others, I learn to accept my own aging body too, and perhaps come a little closer to peace with the passage of time.
