Late Ming Dynasty Longquan Celadon Footed dishChina, 17th centuryA rare island shaped footed dish from the late Ming dynasty, produced specifically for export to Japan during the early 17th century. The dish is shaped like a rugged shored island and decorated with incised mountains. The dish stands on three beast-shaped feet. This dish was probably ordered by Japanese Zen Tea Master. Where customs orders from Japan where often made in Jingdezhen, so called Ko-Sometsuke ware, orders from the Longquan killns are much rarer and not many examples are know. Condition (UV-checked): Good condition.
