A very powerfull I Ula tavatava bulibuli throwing war club from the Fiji Islands.This one is very nice due it's dotted engravements all over the shaft of the shaft.A similar type of club can be find in the reference book Fiji Art and life in the pacific by Steven Hooper (please see enclosed pictures, the book is not part of this auction).It mesures 42cm in lengt with a head of 10 cm wide.Showing traces of warfare and usage, the tavatava on the shaft and the cracks show the intense usage of this still very solid war club. This club is defenitly from the early 1800 and museum worthy.Purchased from a UK well renowned auction house.
