Extremely Rare Late Medieval Pewter Flagon – First Quarter 15th CenturyA very rare and early pewter flagon, probably Dutch, dating to the first quarter of the 15th century.The vessel presents a bulbous body rising to a slender, slightly flaring neck.The scrolling handle features a moulded rosette at the lower attachment and zig-zag engraved motifs.Originally fitted with a hinged lid, now missing – consistent with age and use.A similar jug with the same characteristic handle design was dredged from the river Merwede and is dated c. 1400.Literature: W.
