A elegantly shaped Yixing teapot from the late Qing dynasty/early Republic period is called a 蛋包壶 or Egg bun pot. The pot has two hinged bronze handles and is clad in pewter decoration of dragons chasing the pearl of wisdom and on the backside a large Shou (longevity) character. The lid has a bronze Guangxu period 1 Tongbao (通宝) coin pressed in the pewter bearing the inscription: 光绪通宝 (Guang Xu Tong Bao) This teapot is finely hand-made and stamped at the bottom with a “宜兴紫砂” (Yixing purple sand) mark.
