Vintage Photometre J.Decoudun Paris exposure meter, 1886. One of the most sought after light meters in excellent condition and in original box. The special feature of this light meter is that it measures the exposure time through the lens. The photographer holds the meter against the focusing screen of the camera and looks through the viewing window at the central button until the light passing through the camera and the meter is just visible. By turning the front central knob, one of the sixteen holes is placed in the viewing slot. Each hole has a letter, from A to P, and can be seen on the back of the meter. Each hole allows a different amount of light to pass through the instrument.
