This rare cylindrical censer features an exterior adorned with a band of characters in seal script, which translate to: "Made in imitation of the Four Divinities lian of the Zhou Dynasty, to be treasured and used by later generations." Below this inscription, two pairs of confronted dragons are set between narrow raised blue bands. The base bears a six-character Daoguang mark and is of the period. The design is set against a vibrant yellow ground beneath a gilded rim, while the interior and underside are glazed in turquoise.PROVENANCE: From the collection of Helge Akre.
