A nice and very large (!) carved soapstone statue of the bodhisattva Guanyin.The bodhisattva is depicted standing with a fly whisk and holding a bottle. Her hair in a high chignon and her face with serene expression. She stands on a carved lotus base.Guanyin, known as the Goddess of Mercy, is a beloved figure in East Asian Buddhism. Often depicted as compassionate and serene, she embodies kindness, healing, and protection. Guanyin is revered as a savior who answers the prayers of the suffering.
