A Finely Inscribed Yixing bell-shaped teapot called 方钟壶 - Wang Chunhong - Dated 1987 (Dingmao)Bells have multiple meaning and functions in ancient China. A bell can be a ritual vessel, a musical instrument, a ritual instrument, a container and also a measuring instrument. On the one hand the bell represents the hierarchy and on the other hand it can be used to produce music. Bells are used as ritual instruments in temples, serve as method of warning for danger and are used to give orders in the military.This vintage Yixing Zisha teapot is a classic example of the high-quality "Factory 1" production from the 1980s. Calligraphy and Decoration:Both sides of the teapot are expertly decorated with incised calligraphy filled with traditional green pigment:Side 1: 「其香千万,気味大宜」A poetic inscription praising the aroma and taste of tea: "Its fragrance is ten-thousandfold, its flavor most pleasant." It is signed 「遠昌刻」Yuanchang Ke (Graved by Yuanchang), referring to the famous factory engraver Shao Xinhe (邵新和, 1936–1989), who signed under the name Yuanchang (远昌) Side 2: 「琴高酒檄,雅華清詞」An elegant literary inscription describing a scholarly gathering: "The lute is tuned high and the wine-call is made; elegant flowery words and clear poetry."
