Chinese Yixing Teapot with Auspicious Reticulated DecorationChina, 20th centuryA striking Yixing double walled teapot of a coin form, richly decorated with carved and molded reticuled designs in the foot, sides, and cover with a dense program of auspicious symbolism. The composition combines traditional motifs associated with marital harmony, prosperity, and good fortune. Front and back are nicely decorated with colorful enamels. One side features the prominent Double Happiness character (囍 – Shuāngxǐ), accompanied by mandarin ducks, symbols of love and fidelity. Surrounding inscriptions include:永結同心 (Yǒng jié tóng xīn) – “Forever united in one heart”魚水和諧 (Yú shuǐ hé xié) – “Harmonious as fish and water”百年好合 (Bǎi nián hǎo hé) – “A happy union for a hundred years”The reverse is centred with the inscription:招财进宝 (Zhāo cái jìn bǎo) – “May wealth and treasures enter the home”Flanking this are a dragon and phoenix, representing the ideal union of yin and yang and symbolising a harmonious and prosperous marriage, alongside the recurring Double Happiness (囍) motif.The teapot stands on an elevated foot and is surmounted by a similarly decorated cover, completing the richly symbolic design.Dimensions:H 17.5 × L 17.5 × W 6 cmCondition:Perfect, no damage.Please refer to the images for the definitive and binding... lees verder bij Catawiki
