Rare Representation of Buddha as a monk, in gilded bronze, stylised.
This finely crafted figure of Buddha, dressed as a monk, with the right shoulder naked, he is presented in a seated position, cross-legged, on a three-level base.
The right hand is in the position of Buddha “touching the earth”.On this figurine, we can note the deliberate will to humanise Buddha: the face is serene and depicted realistically, as well as the hair, formed by neat little curls.
Late 19th century – around 1880
Good overall condition, two holes are visible on the pictures, one on the blazon and the other one on the bottom of the base, there is a lack on one foot, also visible.
