Welcome to Passion d’Orient:
The term Kazak is used generically to classify a heterogeneous group of carpets from various parts of the Caucasus.Kazak carpets of the 19th century were knotted entirely in wool; they were carpets with long, shining velvet and large, colourful, geometric patterns that varied according to the area of production. Over the course of the twentieth century, the beauty of their colours was rediscovered as well as their original and fanciful designs, always made from memory by women who passed them down from mother to daughter, transmitting this great tradition through the centuries. This is how Caucasian rugs began to be appreciated and consistently sought after by enthusiasts and collectors, reaching outstanding prices and gaining a prime position in the panorama of oriental rugs.
