Beautiful original handprinted woodblock print ( ukiyoe) from artist Takehisa Yumeji (1884 -1934)
He was born in Oku, Okayama , Japan. the house he was born in was turned into a museum. He is buried at the Zoushigaya cemetery in Ikebukuro. He never got a formal education in the arts as he hated the concept of the “artist” which did not do him any favours with his critics.
Yet his work had a critical acclaim with the normal public and has many lovers outside of Japan as wel.
