Bonaventura da Bagnoregio was an Italian Cardinal, philosopher and theologian. Called Doctor Seraphicus, he taught at the Sorbonne in Paris and was a friend of Saint Thomas Aquinas. He was bishop and cardinal and, after his death, was canonized by Pope Sixtus IV in 1482 and proclaimed Doctor of the Church by Pope Sixtus V in 1588.
Saint Bonaventure wrote together with Saint Francis the rules of the order of the Franciscan confraternity.
