Extraordinary polychrome wood sculpture depicting Christ being flogged (Ecce Homo). Haute Époque. Made in Italy in the 16th century. Face turned 3/4 with curls in Renaissance style.
Exceptional original polychromy on the torso, a missing arm, some marginal wood gaps in the pelvis and left arm, large gaps in the chalk on the back, some cracks with ancient repairs. All in all it is a sculpture of rare beauty and expressiveness, the state of preservation is more than good if we consider its typology.
